Nostalgia is a collection of luxury wallpapers designed and created by Jo Ganley-Yates for Sidney Paul & Co. Inspired by places that cannot be forgotten and stay in the heart, when recalled are memories of the dreams and adventures once had. This collaboration came together to create wallpaper collections with a more accessible aesthetic. Through photography painting and collecting of references Jo starts her design process with travel. An avid photographer Jo takes her camera wherever she goes and recording what she sees is all part of the design process.
Having visited some of the most beautiful and grand houses in Europe Jo was inspired by their elaborately decorated interiors to create the flamboyantly decorative wallpapers Orangerie and The Lost Gardens. Both are greatly influenced by the exotic chinoiserie style wallpapers and fabrics brought back from the Far East in the 18th and 19th centuries to decorate the grand palaces of Europe.
The colours of the wallpapers created for Sidney Paul & Co reflect the jewel like interiors of palaces, Charlottenburg Palace, Berlin, Versailles and Villa Le Piazzole, Florence.
India, also a great inspiration and recent visit, truly a feast for the eyes. Amer Fort was the main residence of the Rajput Rulers, a spectacular palace with beautiful and ornately decorated rooms. The faded jewel tones and the lush surrounding landscape were the influence for Summer Palace and Capuchin wallpapers.
Summer Palace is a beautifully painted Indian Architectural inspired wallpaper. A patchwork of decorative patterns and illustrative scenes conjure up the faded glamour of exotic summer palaces seen on Grand Tours of the far East. Muted shades of faded jewel pigments give the paper a chalky elegance of a distempered surface. Capuchin is a jungle style wallpaper inspired by the lush landscape of the India. This detailed hand drawn design features beautifully painted monkeys climbing flowering trees.
Wildwood and Helmsley are inspired by the country estates closer to home drawing on influences of early 20th century. These wallpapers were designed to give a new modern aesthetic to the British country house look. Brought up to date with contemporary colours that suit todays interiors.
Wildwood is a beautifully illustrated archival style wallpaper. A classic woodland scene inspired by the British countryside with a distinctive 1920s look, it will bring the quiet and calm of nature into your home with a dramatic and stylish statement.
Helmsley is a vintage style classic floral wallpaper. The trailing design of elegant hand painted flowers and leaves available in four contemporary colours.
